Becoming Better Together

The overarching theme of the video revolves around the mentor’s commitment to ensuring his apprentices become better electricians than him. He highlights the value of learning from experiences and avoiding common pitfalls. This mentorship approach sets the stage for a culture of continuous improvement at Barts Electric.

Fast Track Program

One of the key highlights mentioned in the video is Barts Electric’s Fast Track Program. Designed to expedite the journeyman and master testing process, this program offers a unique opportunity for electricians to advance their careers swiftly. The mentor encourages apprentices to take advantage of the Fast Track Program, enabling them to become recognized journeymen and even masters at an accelerated pace.

The Master Test Advantage

The mentor suggests that apprentices consider taking the master test early in their career. By participating in the Fast Track Program and passing the master test at 8,000 hours, electricians can attain journeyman recognition sooner. This strategic move allows individuals to gain a competitive edge and progress in their careers without waiting for the conventional 12,000 hours required in Missouri to become a recognized master electrician.

Empowering Electricians

Barts Electric is not just a workplace; it’s a community that empowers electricians to reach their full potential. The mentor’s goal is clear – to guide apprentices towards becoming Masters in their field. By providing a conducive learning environment and innovative programs like the Fast Track, Barts Electric is dedicated to shaping the future leaders of the electrical industry.

Overall, I want him to be better than me. Absolutely, my whole goal, and I told him the first day, “When you get done here, you’re going to go out there and be better than me because you’re going to learn from my mistakes. You’re not going to have to do them. You’re going to have the benefit of my experience to show you what not to do, instead of you learning by what not to do. So yeah, that’s my goal – for them to be Masters. I want them to be Masters. My goal for them, I told them when you go to take that test, there are steps that we used to take.

There’s a fast Fast Track program now, and that FASTT track program allows them to Fast Track, if you will. Instead of just waiting to take that journeyman test, why not sign up for the master test? Take the master test at 8,000 hours in the trade. You’re going to be a recognized journeyman anyway because you’ve already passed your master. You just have to wait for 12,000 hours in Missouri to be the recognized Master. Why not go ahead and do it first? That’s what I say.

Fast Track, get there. Don’t wait if you have the knowledge, do it.
