Barts Electric, a national electrical construction contractor, is dedicated to fostering growth and providing unparalleled opportunities for both experienced electricians and those aspiring to join the trade. Our company is always on the lookout for new electrical apprentices and seasoned journeymen to join our expanding team. Here’s a closer look at what makes Barts Electric a fantastic place to build a career in the electrical industry, as shared by one of our team members in a recent video.

A Journey of Growth and Opportunity

When I first had my phone interview with the HR representative at Barts Electric, she asked me what I could bring to the table. My answer was simple: a strong work ethic. For me, hard work isn’t just a job—it’s a passion. Barts Electric recognized this and provided me with continuous work opportunities. I joined as a first-year apprentice and was given the chance to travel, which allowed me to explore new places and have once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

Rising Through the Ranks

Upon returning to Kansas City, I expressed my desire to take on more responsibility. Barts Electric responded by gradually increasing my responsibilities. Today, I am proud to lead the service department in Kansas City. Although there is still much to learn, I am grateful for the growth and the support I have received throughout my journey.

Success Stories at Barts Electric

Spencer Lowry, our head estimator, is a perfect example of growth within the company. He started as a first-year apprentice alongside me and has risen through the ranks to oversee jobs worth $10 million and more. His journey illustrates the strong support and comprehensive training Barts Electric provides to ensure our team members succeed.

Another inspiring story is that of Andrew Perkins, who also started as a first-year apprentice. Andrew now runs our training programs, ensuring that new apprentices receive the proper training to excel in their roles. His dedication to helping the next generation of electricians is a testament to the supportive and nurturing environment at Barts Electric.

When I first had my phone interview with the HR lady, she asked me what I bring to the table for Barts Electric. My answer was, “I will set your work ethic. It’s what I do; it’s my hobby.” Not everyone is that way. Barts Electric gave me work, and they continued to give me work until I said, “I’m good.”

I came in as a first-year apprentice. I had an opportunity to travel, which I had wanted to do anyways. I wanted to get out of Kansas City, explore, and do once-in-a-lifetime things. Bart sent me to jobs where that was possible. When I came back, I said, “Hey, I really want to start taking on more responsibility.” So they started feeding me more responsibility, and now I’ve gotten to the point where I get to run the service department in Kansas City. This is fantastic for me. I still have a lot to learn, and we’re going through that process. I’m happy.

Spencer Lowry, who’s our head estimator, was in my class as a first-year apprentice. He’s come up through the ranks and is now the head estimator for Barts Electric. We’re bidding jobs that are $10 million plus, and we have full confidence in him because he had the support and training to get there.

Andrew Perkins is another story. He was also in my class and started as a first-year apprentice. He runs our schooling and many of our training programs for Barts Electric because that’s where he wanted to be. Andrew Perkins can run a project—he’s done it and did it very well—but he wanted to help with the young guys coming in, ensuring they were getting trained properly to go to these big projects and help our team be successful. He took that on, and now we have created a spot and role for him where his sole job is to help with our training program.
