Some things I’ve learned about being a leader here at Barts Electric. I think the biggest thing is leading by example. You can look around Barts Electric, and there are constantly people stepping up and being leaders throughout all different facets of Barts Electric.

The safety call, for example, occurs every Tuesday. We give people the opportunity to participate and be a leader on the safety call, whether it’s sharing the message or running the agenda. These little opportunities stand out. So, I think the first thing that stands out is just leading by example.

Probably the other thing is becoming a mentor. I had experience in the National Guard for a while, so I’ve been around the whole mentorship concept. However, to have that in a career was very different than where I was working before. Having mentors that I could count on and having people now underneath me that can count on me โ€“ those are probably the two biggest things that stand out with leadership at Barts Electric.
