I had worked for Bart’s Electric for about six months, and I was at a point in my life where I wasn’t quite at rock bottom, but I was making my way down there. I was having a really hard time on one of the job sites, and Bart, you heard that I was struggling; somebody called you and informed you about my challenges. You made your way out to the job site to have a conversation with me.

During that conversation, you asked me about where I was at in life, what I wanted in life, and where I wanted to go. At that point, I didn’t know; I didn’t know where I was going, what I was doing, or anything of that nature. You made some suggestions, offered me the opportunity to go on the road, just to get away, see something different, and give it a few weeks to see where it goes.

This truly demonstrates how Bart’s Electric cares about its people. Out of 200 guys, I had only been here for six months, yet you took the time to come out to the job site just to talk to me and make sure I was doing okay. At that point, we decided that I would go to Virginia.

You suggested I take a break for about six weeks, just to see how it went. Surprisingly, that turned into about nine months, during which I was in Virginia off and on.
